The more subscribers you can add per month the better – but this may depend on your budget. MailChimp has about 1 million active users that send out an average of 350 emails each day (the maximum number).
ActiveCampaign's free version allows up to 5,000 contacts/subscribers and unlimited messages sent daily; while Campaign Monitor offers monthly limits as low as 10 or as high as 50,000 contacts/subscribers.
2) How Many Lists Can You Create?
This is also a factor that you should consider when choosing the program to use – especially if your business has many different categories of customers and products (like mine).
ActiveCampaign allows up to 5 lists per account; Campaign Monitor's free version only offers three lists while their premium plan gives you access to unlimited lists.
3) What Is The Price For Each Subscription Plan?
It can be very expensive for some companies with more than 100 subscribers each month or even 1,000+ users – so you should consider this factor when choosing a program.
I think it's important to have at least 5-10 subscribers/customers per list, so if your business has more than 100 users on each list then I'd recommend using MailChimp or ActiveCampaign – and if that is not possible then Campaign Monitor would be the best choice for you.
4) How Many Email Templates Can You Use?
The number of email templates in an account can also be very limited (or unlimited), depending on which plan package you choose; but with most programs there are often dozens of ready-to -use email templates that you can use.
5) What Is The Free Trial Period?
If your business doesn't have enough subscribers to break even with the free version, then it may be worth paying for a few months of service (or longer if possible).
Campaign Monitor offers 30-day trial periods; while MailChimp and ActiveCampaign offer 14 days or 1 month in their paid plans – so they're not too bad when compared to other programs like Constant Contact, which only allows a 7-day trial period.
6) How Much Does It Cost To Use Each Subscription Plan?
I think it's important to consider this factor when choosing a program.

7) What Is The Support Available?
This is one of my favorite aspects of each email marketing software; I like seeing what other people have said about their experience with support at MailChimp, ActiveCampaign and Campaign Monitor.
Obviously there will be some differences between them but there are a lot of similarities too.
8) What Does The Support Look Like?
I think it's also important to see what each company offers in terms of support for their paid plans – as these can be very different from the free plan; and you may find that some companies offer more than others when it comes to this area (such as MailChimp offering phone calls, chat sessions or live webinars).
9) How Much Training Is Available?
This is another factor which will vary between programs; but if your business has enough users then there should be plenty available online at least.
I've found that the training available at MailChimp is very informative and easy to follow, but ActiveCampaign has a lot of free videos which can help you get started with your campaigns.
